Longhand Texas Holdem - Tips And Basic Startegy

The game of Texas Holdem is well-known to the poker players. In fact this is the most played game of chance in the whole word. Each poker admirer will tell you that this is a game, which is easy to learn but hard to master. But I am sure that most of the gamblers want to become generally recognized poker celebrities and for that reason here they can find articles, which will help them to improve their skills.

Many people play poker regularly but they are not so solid players. In most cases the problem is that the players do not choose the most convenient Texas Holdem variation for them. Some people love action and for that reason they prefer the shorthand games, but if you are a player, who counts on his/her patience, the longhand games are exactly for you. In the text below you have the chance to learn more about this variation. In fact, this game is easy to play because there are more players (eight or more) and you have more options to use. But remember that there are many people at the table and this make increase the possibility for someone to have more solid hand.

Let me start with some basic information about the starting hands. It is recommended to raise if your pocket cards are AA, KK, QQ, JJ or AK. As you know, these are the best starting hands at Texas Holdem poker and there is more chance to create a solid hand at the Flop. If your first two cards are 1010, 99, AQ or QK the situation is different because the odds are less favorable. These hands should be played with less players, but in some cases they can be beneficial for you. Use your knowledge about the bluffing and the different types of players and take advantage over the situation. Other hands that are worth to play are AJ, A10, KJ, JQ, 10Q, 10J or 88. A proper strategy here is to raise in order to make some of your opponents to fold. The main reason is that it will be better for you to play them with less opponents.

Now it is time to learn how to act when the three community cards are on the table. The first case is if you have a strong hand and it is quite difficult for someone to beat you (three of a king, full house or better). Here, the best thing to do is to wait and see the turn and then to hit the pot. The second situation is to have solid cards, but not unbeatable. Here you should pay attention to your position. If you are in early position you should raise if someobody bets before you. But if no one of the players bets before you, you should bet in order to knock out some of your opponents (for those in late position). If the flop does not improve your pocket cards, the most reasonable thing is to fold. You should fold either, if you have nothing at all and there is no chance (in accordance to the odds) to create a solid hand.

Now you know how you should proceed when you are playing longhand Texas Holdem. Of course, this poker variation is a combination of many skills and it will be not enough to follow the tips, mentioned above. You have to play regularly in order to get some poker routine. Odds, types of players, different tables, money management - there are a lot of things, which the real Texas Holdem champion should consider.
