Single Table Tournament Strategy - Learn To Play Smart

One of the fast-growing industries on the Internet is the online Texas Holdem. This famous poker variation has a lot of admirers, who spend hours in front of their computers playing on the net. Hundreds of online poker rooms offer you to enjoy this game and to feel the great excitement, which it brings. Today a lot of players join the poker sites in order to play against solid players and to improve their Texas Holdem experience. But if you want to try something more thrilling, my preposition is to join any of the single table tourneys that you can find.

You know that there are generally two types of tournaments - multi table and single table competitions. The main difference between them is that the multi table tourneys are scheduled in advance. When it comes to single table tournaments, the action starts as soon as all the seats at one table are taken. Usually, these tourneys are shorter than the multi table ones and that is why they are so exciting. If you want to take part in such event you should be familiar with some basic strategies that you can use during the competition.

At the early stages of the single table competition it is recommended to play more aggressive than usual. The reasons are different according to the kind of the competition. Imagine that you are playing in a Re-buy tourney and you have the chance to purchase additional chips you will play more loose because the rules permits you so. Besides, do not forget that the blinds are still low now. So, take advantage of this and see more flops, hoping that the community cards will improve your hand. At this stage it is important to remember that your main object is to collect (or save) chips, which will make you feel more confident later in the competition.

At the heights of the single table tournament you should conform your strategy with the changes in the blinds. Here they are higher and it is time to start playing more tight. Save your chips and use them widely. The most appropriate strategy here is to raise the flop straight away. It is not recommended to call because you can loose your money for nothing, which can be very unfavorable at this moment. If you are at early position and you have a strong hand you can raise aggressively, because this can make some of your opponents to fold, but if someone raises before you do not hesitate to fold if your hand is poor and the odds are not on your side.

Towards the final stage the best that you can do is to consider the situation in all its aspects. First of all, pay attention to your position, to the other participants and their chips. You have two options, according to your stack. If you have not enough chips my preposition is to bet only if you have a winning hand. Do not believe in miracles right now. But if are above the average stack you should concentrate your efforts in order to eliminate your opponents.
